Overview

John O’Keefe, Boston police officer was found dead in the front lawn of another police officer. His girlfriend Karen Read is being accused of striking him intentionally with her car. Karen Read denies these allegations and claims she is being framed for murder.

This case is complex and I had to do a deep dive into the story. There are many actors involved, with numerous conflicting testimonies, incriminating Google searches, deleted phone calls and texts, missing critical surveillance camera footages, a crime scene that was not secured, you name it.

Let’s jump in

Karen Read and her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe were bar-hopping in Boston along with some of their friends. At the end of the night, they were invited to a fellow police officer’s house party in Canton, Massachusetts. Karen was driving the car and she dropped John off at Brian Albert’s house at Fairview Road. As both were driving to Albert’s home, John O’Keefe made a phone call to one of the guests of the house party (sister of the homeowner) to get specific directions to get to the house. This phone call between John and Jennifer McCabe at 12:18 is the last known communication before John died.

Last week, after 5 days of jury deliberation, the Karen Read trial that took 10 weeks, ended with a hung jury and a mistrial was declared. Prosecution was claiming that John O’Keefe never actually showed up at the house and that Karen Read ran over her police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe in front of Albert’s house and left him alone to die in the cold.

Karen Read, hence the defense team, claimed that she is being framed for murder. She says that she dropped her boyfriend at the house and that one or more people that were in the house that night are responsible for his death. He was found unresponsive early morning of 29th on the front lawn of Brian Albert’s home.

The Massachusetts State Police took over the investigation from the local Canton Police Department. The defense alleged that both police departments are part of a conspiracy to cover up what really happened, to protect those who are really responsible, and to frame Karen Read by planting evidence, by not conducting thorough interviews, by filing inaccurate information in police reports, by not investigating key people, and by not entering the Albert home to investigate and look for evidence.

Alberts are connected to law enforcement - Brian Albert is a Boston police officer, as is John O'Keefe, the victim in this case. The Albert family is accused of covering up the crime, lying, and coordinating a conspiracy to hide what happened in Brian Albert's home. Here are some really suspicious behavior from the Alberts: They sold their home after this incident. Brian Albert got rid of his cellphone right after this incident and destroyed the previous data. They gave away their dog of 7 years. They replaced the floors of their basement before putting their house on the market.

Another family involved in this case is the McCabes. They are related to Alberts by blood and are accused of lying to protect the Alberts. Extraction report on Jennifer McCabe’s phone records show that she made a Google search “hos long to die in cold”  at 2:27 am, that’s about 4 hours before John’s body was found. She then later deleted this search. Another significant point on Jennifer McCabe is that she changed her story over time, testifying at a grand jury hearing last year that she heard Karen Read say “Could I have hit him?” “Did I hit him?” to “I hit him” that she now says she heard. The defense claimed that this change in wording is due to public outrage over the revelation of a deleted Google search that could exonerate Karen Read and implicate Jennifer McCabe as an accomplice in John's murder.

One of the doctors testified on the stand that John didn’t have a single broken bone or a single fracture below the neck. How could that be possible when a 2-4 ton SUV runs over a person and leaves no injuries on the torso or the legs? To me it is impossible. The images released by the autopsy report; there were horizontal scratches on John’s right forearm, Read's attorneys argue that the wounds on O'Keefe's arm were more consistent with an animal attack than a car crash, noting that the Alberts had a dog named Chloe that was sent away months after O'Keefe's death, and in Albert family’s words on the stand, she was “rehomed”. I find it hard to believe that these chain of events from the Alberts and McCabes’ side are mere coincidences. Moreover, the neighbor living across from Albert’s home (who also happens to be a police officer) had a ring camera. Had there been a footage showing Karen Read running into John O’Keefe with her car, they would have released it by now and this case would have never gone to trial. However this isn’t the only missing camera footage. There are other camera footages that mysteriously vanished that would prove prosecution’s case wrong. After dropping John off at Albert home, Karen drove by the library. The library’s camera footage is missing key 2 minutes, it would have shown if Karen Read’s taillights are broken or not. Since the footage is now missing, it probably showed that the taillights were intact and that Karen Read didn’t actually run him over with her car.

As I watched the trial move along, without even looking at the crime chart, a cover-up didn’t seem like a far stretch. The Commonwealth (the prosecution) presented zero evidence to support the claim that this was a hit-and-run by Karen Read. They have brought forward the main witnesses that were in Brian Albert’s house that night, and each one of them, seemed shady, full of inconsistencies and evasive. When you factor in all we know about the case, it sure looks, smells and sounds like there is a wild conspiracy and a cover-up going on behind the scenes, between the well-connected Albert family and law enforcement. The burden of proof was on the prosecution, to show evidence that incriminates Karen Read, and they have given us none. Their attempts to expose their prior relationship drama and suggest a motive (to kill) based on a relationship gone sour are not enough to convict her of second-degree murder.

Crime Chart

As we examine the crime chart of police officer John O’Keefe’s murder, we need a documented time of when he was last seen or heard from (his last known communication). According to the disclosed cell phone data, John O’Keefe made a phone call to Jennifer McCabe at 12:18 am on January 29th to get specific directions to a home on Fairview Road.

In crime charts, AC symbolizes the victim and the DC gives us the perpetrator. AC opens at 6 degrees of Scorpio. I pay a close attention to the degrees when I know the exact time of an event. Degrees give us the nature or the circumstances of the incident. 6th degree is a Virgo degree, which easily tells us that John was involved with his work colleagues. Scorpio ascendant charts are very common in crime charts as they usually, unfortunately, point to death of the victim. In crime charts, I look to the modern rulerships of the signs. Therefore, I take Pluto as the ascendant ruler. Another aspect of Pluto worth noting in this case is its association with mafia-like behavior. John O’Keefe was likely a victim of well-connected, mafia-like family: the Alberts. Alberts have strong ties within the Canton Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.

Pluto is in an exact conjunction with Mercury. Mercury generally symbolizes cousins, neighbors, siblings or young people. I take the young people symbolism into account since the rest don’t have any involvement in this crime. In the upcoming post, I will tell you my theory on Mercury.

Place of the moon is as important as the ascendant ruler in crime charts. It also symbolizes the victim. Moon is applying to a conjunction with Mars, and we don’t like seeing that. There was an attack and there was blood. Let’s not skip the degrees here. Both Moon and Mars are showing us Gemini degrees. Again, a double emphasis on the characteristics of Mercury.

There is a difficult aspect between Moon and Neptune. Moon is square Neptune. Although there’s a rather large orb between them, I still take this square into account because Moon moves fast. Moon in a difficult aspect with Neptune tells us there was criminal behavior, as Neptune symbolizes victimhood.

Moon is in 135 degree aspect with Uranus, a sesquisquare. In criminal astrology we take squares, semisquares and sesquisquare seriously. Uranus symbolizes friends and it is in the 7th house of the perpetrator. Could he be the victim of his “so-called” friends?

IC is conjunct Saturn. We can interpret the IC in a crime chart as the root cause of the event. In this case, having Saturn in conjunction with the IC clearly indicates that governing forces or authority are behind this murder cover-up. Can Saturn symbolize the Commonwealth? It was the Commonwealth that let an inverted video footage as evidence in the courtroom. It was defense team that pointed out what many commentators call trickery by the Commonwealth. Additionally, Saturn in a chart can symbolize coldness, both literal and figurative. My theory is that there was a physical fight between John O’Keefe and one or more of the Alberts. He was severely injured, and instead of calling 911 and trying to save his life, the people in that house took him out to the front lawn in the middle of a snowstorm and left him to die in the cold. Remember, Jennifer McCabe typed in “hos long to die in cold” in Google search at 2:27 am and then deleted it.
